Cobalt International Energy, Inc. Appoints Executive Vice President and General Manager, Cobalt Angola

HOUSTON, Mar 31, 2010 (BUSINESS WIRE) --Cobalt International Energy, Inc. ("Cobalt") (NYSE:CIE) today named Michael D. Drennon as Executive Vice President and General Manager, Cobalt Angola effective April 1, 2010.

Mr. Drennon joins Cobalt with some 33 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Cobalt, Mr. Drennon held the position of Vice President, Operations for Parker Drilling Company. Prior to joining Parker Drilling, Mr. Drennon held various executive positions at BP and Amoco in the United States, United Kingdom, China, Trinidad, Norway and Angola. Mr. Drennon received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech University in 1977.
