Kids win big from holiday raffle sales

This past December, Cobalt and Ensco employees teamed up for a second year in a row to conduct a holiday raffle benefitting Toys-for-Tots and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Working on a Cobalt-operated well which was being drilled with the Ensco 8503 drilling rig in the Gulf of Mexico, the two companies organized and hosted another holiday raffle.  Cobalt and Ensco employees sold raffle tickets to people on the rig and on land for a chance to win a variety of donated prizes.  With only a short period to sell tickets, their efforts resulted in collecting over $15,000 in total sales.

“There are a bunch of worthy kids who will benefit from everyone’s generosity,” stated Jeff Hammett, Cobalt drilling supervisor on the Ensco 8503. “Whether people bought one ticket or 50, every dollar is going to a great cause and we appreciate every dollar raised.”

In the spirit of continuing last year’s tradition, Cobalt matched the ticket sales proceeds and, as a result, Toys-for-Tots and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital each received a check for $15,250.

We are so proud of our employees and the Ensco team for dedicating their resources and time to support these children’s charities,” stated James Painter, Cobalt’s Executive Vice President, Execution and Appraisal.  “Cobalt is thrilled to be able to match these generous contributions for a second year in a row!”

While many lucky participants walked away with prizes ranging from gift cards to high-end coolers, the big winners are the kids who benefit from the outstanding efforts of Toys-for-Tots and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
